I’m Here

Stop taking the calling
and turning it into
a burden
It is a blessing

I pray to be humbled and I have been awakening in moments and find myself in familiar old dead ends

The ego
when unchecked
can corrupt

When one has the ability to see a wound
and the ability to address the wound
it is one’s duty to do so

That is why it is seen
heard
felt
to begin with

Sadhana
in my understanding
which
haha
is laughable
but
sadhana
is life/actions/duties
performed
in service to the divine
life can become sadhana
if allowed
a life dedicated to service
of the divine
which resides in all things

when one seeks the holy
he
or she
begins to see the holy in everyone
and everything
it makes the manmade horrors of the world
almost laughable
if the consequences
weren’t paid in fresh spilled blood of our brothers
sisters
children
elders
all our relations

the ego can have a field day
with sadhana
too
the call
is to live
to heal our self
and our people
and our planet

pat on the back
“oh wow, so holy.
so selfless.”
says the self.
thrown back from the gates of the wedding feast.
the lions at the gate
no self can remain
to enter

the higher one climbs
the farther one falls

its good though
we asked to be humbled
yes?

when we offer service
if we are doing so
in judgement of those we serve
or with resentment
or with self-importance
or with expectation of reciprocation
or even expectation of gratitude
then the fruits of our labors
are spoilt.

if we are able to offer service
it is our duty
and the only service that can be truly received
is that offered in love
and compassion

help is only help if it is helpful

help can only be helpful if it is offered with love

look at the places where help is offered begrudgingly
or with shame
or guilt
or fear
or obligation
or anger
or resentment
are the wounds the said “service” is trying to heal
healing?

healing can only happen
in love
patience
compassion
trust
mercy
truth

sometimes we are asked to go into the shadows
sometimes we are asked to go into the shadows and stay for a while
to learn to navigate them
as best as possible
and learn to carry light
everywhere
always
and learn to remember
that we carry light
everywhere
always

who do you think you are?
the shadows ask me.
you come here
armed with what?
a little bag of sage?
a wooden flute?
you think that enough?

well
here i am
i am here
aren’t I?
